Philip has a bold personality, that shows throughout the novel. Him and Vera are often engaging in conversation, and he seems to be quite fond of her. He carries a gun with him, until Judge Lawrence confiscates it, along with the rest of the guests' medicine and anything considered to be dangerous and lethal.
